2017 Challenge Cup Recap

September 21, 2017

On the weekend of September 15th to 17th, Richmond Hill Soccer Club hosted our annual Challenge Cup Tournament & Festival. This year’s edition of our Challenge Cup saw 211 teams from across Ontario competing in games throughout the weekend.

Tournament play kicked off on Friday with a slate of evening games and wrapped up on Sunday afternoon. Festival play for U8 to U12 age groups got underway on Saturday, with our boys' divisions playing games that day and the girls seeing action on Sunday. After every final was played and a champion was determined in the U13-U17 divisions, those teams ended their weekend by gathering outside of our clubhouse to take part in a medal presentation.

Out of ten finals in our U13 to U17 division, a total of 16 clubs were represented – from Guelph to Cambridge to Stoufville – with 9 different clubs claiming the championships of their respective divisions. RHSC was the only club who had multiple teams win their divisions, with our U15 boys and U17 girls emerging as champions.

Richmond Hill Soccer Club would like to thank all volunteers and staff members for their contributions over the weekend. It is because of their hard work and dedication that this year’s edition of our Challenge Cup was such a huge success. We would also like to thank each of the 211 teams who participated in this year’s tournament and festival, including all parents, coaches, and players.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
