1998 Girls Win Continental Cup

Congratulations to our 1998 girls team who went undefeated in the 2014 Continental Cup tournament in Cleveland, Ohio and took home the gold medal and top trophy.

Our girls got off to an easy start with their first game against the Modern India School from Nepal with a 13:0 win. The next game was a little more challenging with a 8:0 win against Rockers 16, OH. On the second day of the tournament our team faced stiffer competition from against two Canadian teams and had to work a bit harder in their 2:0 and 4:1 wins against Woodbridge Strikers 98 and ANB Futbol respectively.

On day three, it was on to the semi-finals and the most challenging team thus far. However, our girls prevailed in their 1:0 win over Eastside Kickers, of Canada. Unfortunately, we lost two key players due to injuries by the time our girls prepared for the final game.

In the final game, our girls had a very shortened bench, but were able to pull off a convincing 3:0 win over ANB Futbol to take the gold medal and the top trophy.

The coach noted that the Raiders displayed an entertaining brand of soccer throughout the tournament, together with solid sportsmanship. He was very proud of our young Ladies, not only for their Championship result but for their approach throughout the entire event. They represented their country and their hometown of Richmond Hill with a great deal of pride and respect!
