99 Boys Green Capture Ontario Summer Games Silver Medal

Last weekend our 1999 Boys Green, coached by Mark Purdy and Peter Mellon, headed to Windsor to compete in the Ontario Summer Games. The Games, which had athletes competing in nearly 20 sports, welcomed the remaining 8 teams in the U15 division of the Ontario Cup as they hosted the tournament's final round.

Our Raiders were drawn into a tough group that was made up of Erin Mills, Scarborough, and Gloucester. Strong team performances helped the boys secure victories over all 3 teams on their way to topping the group and earning a match up against Brampton in the Ontario Cup and Ontario Summer Games final.

The final was an exciting, back and forth game that saw our Raiders jump out to an early lead. Brampton would later equalize and the game eventually headed to penalties. Our boys came out on the losing end of a tight 8-7 penalty shootout that could have gone either way and walked away with the Ontario Summer Games silver medal.

Congratulations to our 1999 Boys Green team, including all players, coaches, managers, and parents, for making it all the way to the Ontario Cup final and capturing the silver medal with a truly outstanding performance! This is a tremendous accomplishment for this group that is already having a successful season which has them sitting atop the OYSL standings.
