99 Boys Emerge as Champions at the Coupe Quebec-Ontario Cup
On the weekend of October 11th and 12th our 1999 Boys Green headed to Pointe Claire, Quebec, to compete in the Coupe Quebec-Ontario Cup. The Coupe Quebec-Ontario Cup has the champions from the Ontario Provincial League and the Quebec Provincial League square-off in a two game series.
Our Raiders, coached by Mark Purdy, were representing Ontario in the U15 division after winning the OYSL championship with a 3-1 victory over Mississauga on October 4th. They were competing against Panellinios, who won the Quebec Provincial League and were also the 2013 U14 Canadian Champions.
The boys started off the weekend strong, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to win the first game 3-2. Sunday’s game would go the other way, as Panellinios came out on top 2-0 in another tight contest, meaning the championship would have to be decided by penalty kicks. Our Raiders would eventually go on to win 4-2 in penalties, emerging as champions of the Coupe Quebec-Ontario Cup U15 Division.
This victory caps off a tremendously successful season for this team, which saw them not only win the OYSL but also make the Ontario Cup finals and take home a silver medal at the Ontario Summer Games back in August.
Congratulations to our 1999 Boys Green on this latest accomplishment and on a truly outstanding season!
