2 RHSC OPDL Boys Named to the Ontario Provincial Team

Richmond Hill Soccer Club would like to congratulate two of our very own OPDL Boys players, Lemuel Kalombo and Jahdea Paterson, who were selected to the Ontario Provincial team. Lemuel and Jahdea are 2 of only 40 players who were selected to represent Ontario at this age group.

Lemuel and Jahdea will be joining the Ontario program as the first wave of players in the new restructured provincial program. Under coaches Jamie Teixeira and Lucian Hutanu, the boys have demonstrated incredible commitment and work ethic to get where they are, having worked their way up through the district program before getting onto the provincial team.

Congratulations Lemuel and Jahdea!

We caught up with Lemuel and Jahdea to see what they had to say about the OPDL program in Richmond Hill and their thoughts on being named to the provincial team:

What do you enjoy most about being part of RHSC’s OPDL team?

Lemuel: The environment within the team, with the coaching, coaching staff, and facilities that we have. It’s really helpful in my training process.

Jahdea: It has to be the facilities that are offered and the coaching staff. They teach us things in simple ways and make us understand techniques we might not have understood before.

What sets our program apart from the rest?

Lemuel: I think it’s that we have more opportunities to become what we want to be in the future. If we stick to what we want to be it will happen, and is possible for any kid here.

Jahdea: It’s the players bond here. When we’re down in games or have any problems our coaches communicate with us, and we are also able to talk to each other and find a way to work through it as a team.

Would you encourage other players to join RHSC’s OPDL team? Why?

Lemuel: I would definitely encourage other players to join, the main reason is because of the coaching. They can help players become what they want to be and no other club has as great of a coaching staff as ours.

Jahdea: Yes, because if you want to get better and reach your goals the coaching staff here will help you achieve them. If you want to go further in soccer or reach a professional level, the coaches will help you through every step of the way and eventually you’ll get to where you want to go.

What would you like to accomplish with soccer in the future?

Lemuel: In the future, my goal is to play for team Canada on the U17 team and become a professional soccer player at a young age. It might be hard, but I think I can do it if I stick with it.

Jahdea: I want to achieve playing for the Canadian national team when I’m older. Hopefully I will be able to set an example for younger kids and say I came from Richmond Hill Soccer Club.

What does being named to the provincial team mean to you?

Lemuel: I think that’s one step towards where I want to be in the future, and I think the provincial level will be really helpful in getting me to my main goal of playing for the national team.

Jahdea: I think being named to the provincial team will help me get recognized and get to a higher level, like the Canadian national team.
