Club History

Overview

Founded in 1968, Richmond Hill Soccer Club is the largest recreational club in the City of Richmond Hill and one of the largest soccer clubs in York Region. RHSC currently has approximately 5,400 year-round registrations, with approximately 90% of the club's members under the age of 19.

RHSC is a non-profit organization run by a board of directors who are elected by the members of the club at our Annual General Meeting. We provide year-round development programs for players, coaches, and referees. Some of the educational programs we offer include outdoor and indoor player camps, goalkeeping clinics, and harassment and sport injuries seminars.

Our club has an exceptional roster of full-time employees who coordinate the programs at RHSC. In addition to these individuals, we have a large coaching staff list, which includes head coaches, assistant coaches, and volunteers. As a collective group, we work together to provide a pathway that inspires a love of soccer, promotes a healthy, active lifestyle and contributes to success at all levels. While we strive to be a leader in community soccer development, we are continually looking for new partnerships and programs. Off the field RHSC enjoys strong working relationships with the York Region Soccer AssociationOntario Soccer and Canada Soccer.

Milestone Timeline

Since 1968, we have been making history. See below for an overview of some great milestones that we cherish:

National Youth License Program

In 2019, our club was named an inaugural member of the Canada Soccer National Youth License Program, which is designed to guide member organizations throughout the country toward best principles for organizational development both on and off the field. To read more about the National Youth License Program, click here.

Clubhouse History

The current RHSC Clubhouse started out as the Richmond Hill Train Station in 1906. The station was originally located on Centre Street and closed in 1968. It was moved to its current location on the Richmond Green property 11 years later when it became the RHSC Clubhouse.
