Goalkeeping

We recognize goalkeepers as unique players who require specialized, position-specific development. From grassroots to high-performance, RHSC’s Goalkeeping Program provides age-appropriate, progressive training that focuses on technical mastery, tactical intelligence, and confidence under pressure. Our goal is to develop smart, skilled, and confident goalkeepers who lead from the back, thrive in competition, and love the game.

Mohammad Hakim - Goalkeeping Manager

Mohammad Hakim is a highly motivated and experienced Goalkeeper Coach with an extensive background in both playing and coaching at the professional level, including representing and working within the Bangladesh national soccer system. Hakim has trained and coached goalkeepers internationally across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, continuously advancing his coaching education to work effectively with goalkeepers of all ages and ability levels. His coaching approach emphasizes individual development, strong technical foundations, and building confidence under pressure.

A strong believer in community and team culture, Hakim focuses on creating an environment where goalkeepers support one another while developing the skills and mindset required to succeed in competitive play. His goal is to build a connected group of confident goalkeepers who proudly represent RHSC in league play, tournaments, and beyond.

Courses & Licenses: National GK Diploma, USSF National GK License, NSCAA Advanced National GK Diploma, Ontario Soccer GK Diploma, US National Youth Coaching License

Goalkeeper Development Pathway

Ages 2–5 (Early Introduction)

Programs: Kick Start, Parent & Tot

While goalkeeping skills are not taught directly at this stage, we focus on building key athletic and movement foundations:

  • Balance, coordination, and agility
  • Comfort with movement and the ball
  • Fun, supportive environments that spark confidence

Ages 6–12 (Recreational Pathway)

Programs: Raiders Soccer School, House League

Goalkeepers are introduced to the position through play-based learning:

  • Rotating positions to explore the goalkeeper role
  • Basic catching, throwing, and understanding game roles
  • Emphasis on enjoyment, effort, and game awareness


U8–U12 (Development & Academy Pathway)

Programs: RPDP, Development Academy, MagicPitch, Camps

Structured goalkeeper training begins at this stage:

  • Technical: catching, diving, positioning
  • Physical: agility, footwork, coordination
  • Mental: confidence-building repetitions and fun challenges
  • Small-group and individual training led by certified GK coaches

Training aligns with Canada Soccer’s “Learn to Train” and “Train to Train” stages of development.

Competitive Goalkeeper Program (Rep & OPDL)

Levels: U8–Adult Rep | U13–U17 OPDL

Weekly goalkeeper training (2 sessions per week). Training groups organized by developmental stage:

  • Foundational: U8–U12
  • Developmental: U13–U15
  • Performance: U16–U18

All sessions are led by certified goalkeeper coaches with provincial/national experience, ensuring goalkeepers receive high-quality, position-specific instruction in a competitive environment.
