Richmond Hill Soccer Club is proud to share that Cole McCormick, a midfielder who played on our 2008 boys OPDL team, has officially committed to Mount Allison University to join the Mounties for his post-secondary soccer career. Cole will be enrolling in the Commerce program under Head Coach Derek O’Keefe, continuing both his academic and athletic development at the U Sports level.

Cole chose Mount Allison for its strong reputation both in the classroom and on the field. Earning a scholarship was a significant milestone for him, and having family there made the decision even more meaningful. “Having family in the Maritimes makes it feel like a second home. It's a place where I can hopefully succeed both on and off the field,” Cole shared, emphasizing his excitement to grow as both a student and an athlete.

Looking ahead, Cole’s goals are clear. He is determined to work hard, push himself daily, and earn his first U Sports start. He is also eager to meet new teammates, build connections, and compete across the Atlantic provinces against top university programs.

Cole credits RHSC and its OPDL program as a major part of his development. “The coaching has helped me progress so much, especially through the very organized training environment, fitness sessions and game film sessions. Playing in the OPDL with Richmond Hill helped me grow as a player more than I ever expected,” he said.

Despite being with the club for a short period of time, Cole has already made lasting memories. Highlights include preseason camp in Muskoka, attending Top Rated Series showcases, and a memorable victory against Kingston United at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

Cole also expressed his gratitude to his coaches for pushing him both on and off the field. "Coach Dan, Miakel, and Sean have all helped me grow not just as a player, but as a person. Their training sessions were always high-intensity and at game speed, and they taught me important skills like discipline and hard work. They’ve pushed me to a level I wouldn’t have reached on my own," he added.

Cole’s soccer journey began at Regent Park United, where he first developed his love for the sport. "Coach Orville Reynolds was a huge influence, he helped me grow early on and played a big part in shaping the player I am today. My family has also been a massive influence. They’ve always supported me, believed in me, and been ready to help whenever I needed it," Cole shared.

Congratulations to Cole on this exciting next step. RHSC is incredibly proud and looks forward to following his journey with Mount Allison University and beyond.
