Meghan Andersen Commits to McMaster University

Another Raider is set to take the next step in her soccer journey, as Meghan Andersen has committed to McMaster University. A versatile defender capable of playing both centre back and full back, Meghan will study Kinesiology while competing under Head Coach Garrett Peters. She chose McMaster because of its outstanding academic reputation and the opportunity to develop in a supportive team environment.

"It is a very good academic school which will set me up for the future, and the team was very supportive," said Meghan. "I also believe in my coach's philosophies."

Meghan is excited to take on the challenge of U SPORTS soccer and continue growing both on and off the field. "My goal is to continue to grow as a player and as a person while improving my soccer skills," she said. "I'm so excited to challenge myself with the consistent training and games."

Although Meghan joined RHSC this year for the club's inaugural Ontario Premier League season, she quickly became an important part of the squad and formed lasting friendships along the way. "This club has already given me lifelong friendships," she said.

Meghan credits RHSC's high-performance environment with helping prepare her for the next step in her soccer journey. Competing against top-level players each week and training in a demanding environment helped elevate both her game and her leadership skills. "Richmond Hill has pushed me to be a better player and helped develop my leadership skills," Meghan explained. "It has given me the opportunity to play against better players and learn new skills every training session."

She also highlighted the impact of RHSC's coaching staff, whose consistent philosophy across both OPL teams helped accelerate her development. "The coaching at RHSC has allowed me to view the game in different ways," she said. "My coaches have always pushed me to get better, believed in my abilities, and because the coaching philosophy is consistent across both OPL teams, I always know my role."

Meghan also took time to recognize those who played an important role in her development prior to joining RHSC, thanking Pat Smyth, Cadence Smyth, and Cloey Uddenburg from Aurora FC for helping shape her into the player and person she is today.
