A new era is officially underway as RHSC’s Ontario Premier League teams kicked off their inaugural seasons this April!
Thank you to everyone who came out to Richmond Green on April 24 & 25 to support our teams in their historic home openers. The atmosphere, energy, and community support made for an unforgettable weekend and a true statement moment for soccer in Richmond Hill. It was a proud milestone for our club and a glimpse of what this next chapter can become.
The Men’s team opened their campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Master’s FA, with Franchesco Marless scoring the first goal in OPL history for the Raiders in the 73rd minute. They carried that momentum into another strong performance, earning a 1-1 draw on the road in Pickering. The group has shown early resilience and organization, setting a strong foundation to build on as the season progresses. The squad returns home this Friday, May 8, as they take on fellow expansion side the Kingston Sentinels.
On the Women’s side, the team also battled to a 1-1 draw in their season opener against Scrosoppi FC, with Naomi Atem finding the back of the net. They followed that up with an exciting 3-3 draw at home against North Mississauga in a thrilling, end-to-end match that showcased the team’s attacking quality and determination. The team is back in action on May 16 as they head on the road to face Rush Canada.
With both teams showing resilience, quality, and attacking intent early in the season, there is plenty to be excited about as this historic first campaign continues. More importantly, this marks a significant step forward in our club’s long-term vision, providing a true pathway from grassroots to semi-professional soccer right here in Richmond Hill.
Be part of the journey and support the Raiders as they continue to build something special in our community.
